SMITHS and British Jaeger Gauges at Goodwood Festival of Speed
On stand 137 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed (Goodwood House, Chichester, West Sussex, UK, 4th to 7th July 2019), Caerbont Automotive Instruments (CAI) is announcing the addition of the British Jaeger range to their comprehensive SMITHS gauge portfolio.
"The adoption of the British Jaeger brand of gauges significantly expands our portfolio for classic cars and motorcycles," explained Gavin Roberts, CAI's Managing Director.
CAI manufactures SMITHS gauges at their facility near Swansea in South Wales, UK. The gauge designs use authentic SMITHS drawings and manufacturing instructions, maintaining the look and fit of the original instruments. Many of the original British Jaeger branded gauges were manufactured by SMITHS, a legacy appropriately reborn by CAI.
New and Classic Gauges
As well as manufacturing and re-developing classic SMITHS and now British Jaeger gauges, the CAI engineering team work with many of the world's leading car and motorcycle manufacturers designing gauges for recently released versions of popular classics as well as brand-new models.
"Our design team has never been busier," said Gavin. "Companies producing high spec and often handmade motorcycles want bespoke gauges that perfectly reflect the bike's identity and image. Recently, we designed a gauge for Wardill Motorcycles who has hand-built a motorcycle [called the Wardill4] based on his great grandfather's original 1920s design. We intend to have the Wardill4 motorcycle on display on our stand at Goodwood."
SMITHS History Displayed at Goodwood
The wide range of displayed classic cars and motorcycles means that SMITHS instruments are on show right across the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Cars featuring either SMITHS classic gauges or newer CAI instruments include:
"It is always special to attend the Goodwood Festival of Speed," said Gavin. "Seeing our SMITHS gauges in some of the world's most iconic and expensive cars highlights our rich heritage. We are very proud of our history and strive to continue that wonderful legacy."
As well as displaying a selection of SMITHS gauges on their stand at the festival, the CAI team is looking forward to talking with and helping motoring enthusiasts from around the world.
