Search for new Distributor for Smiths MINI Gauges in Japan
The MINI motor car has become a classic car favourite in Japan. There are some who say that the Mini is actually quintessentially Japanese and has even become part of the national motoring culture.
One of the reasons may be that the Mini has been shown to be the perfect size for Japan's narrow roads. Although popular, the more recent BMW version of the Mini has not generated the same enthusiasm, maybe because of the larger vehicle size.
The “Rover” Minis, as they are called (those built approximately from 1990 on), were exported from the UK car plants in large numbers to Japan (more so than earlier models). The Japanese exported Minis incorporated many differences from those built for the UK market. The most common examples are that air conditioning was available on the Japanese Minis, and they did not go to the front mounted radiator when the MPis were introduced in 1996.
Many of the classic Minis feature Smiths gauges and instrumentation. At the CAI design and manufacturing plan in the UK, we produce a range of Smiths Speedometers, Tachometers and other gauges for the Classic Minis and have also developed a range of OLED gauges. These are exported all over the world.

Some of our history of supplying Smiths Gauges for the Mini can be read in the following blogs:
