Photographs of Gauges and VW Campers at Busfest 2017
Once again, Busfest 2017 proved to be the place-to-be for anyone with a passion for VW cars and vans. The Malvern Showground was throbbing with VW Beetles, Patina VW Vans, and Bay Window VW Campers.

We were there with a stand displaying our range of SMITHS gauges designed and manufactured in the UK for classic VW cars and vans. It was great to get the opportunity to talk with VW enthusiasts and provide guidance and advice on installing speedometers, tachometers, clocks, and other gauges. Our VW gauges with bespoke face designs proved to be particularly popular. Visitors to our stand were really enthusiastic and came up with some weird and wonderful gauge face design concepts.

We also got the opportunity to photograph some great VW Vans and Cars.
There were quite a few Patina style VW Vans, complete with their distinctive rusty and scratched bodywork, and dented bumpers. It was wonderful to see VW Vans with so much character.

The quality of the refurbished Bay Window VW Camper Vans (Type 2 T2 1967-1979) was impressive. The standard of the finish, both internally and externally, often appeared higher than when they were first built. The addition of luxury seats and other home comforts just added to their character.

There were also plenty of first generation Split Screen VW Vans (Type 2 T1 1950-1967). These are over 50 years old and yet the sheen on the paint on the bodywork was as good as a new Jaguar just off the production line. Simply stunning.

As well as the VW Van, there were classic VW Beetle cars. The VW Beetle was first manufactured in 1938 and yet the car retains an iconic status with old and new enthusiasts.
Busfest 2017 proved to be a fantastic celebration of everything VW and we were thrilled to be part of the event. Thanks for coming along to our stand, if you had a chance. VW enthusiasts may also be interested to read some blogs we have posted about the history of the VW Transporter Van including:
