SPEED SENSOR INSTALLATION NOTES
PLEASE READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS THOROUGHLY BEFORE COMMENCING INSTALLATION.
1. The CAI speed sensor EMP34-1(KIT) is an inductive proximity type, normally used to detect a steel target eg. boltheads on a propshaft or driveshaft flange.
2. The installer needs to provide a suitable mounting bracket such that the airgap, after the sensor has been installed, remains constant under all driving conditions.
3. This sensor generates a 12 volt pulse each time it detects a steel object in front of the sensing face. A yellow led located at the rear end of the sender will illuminate each time the sensor detects a target.
4. The nominal airgap (distance between sensor face and the target) should be set at 2.0mm.
5. Boltheads on a propshaft flange (or other target) must be equi-spaced, to ensure the sender generates a constant frequency.
6. The sensor should be connected as follows:
Brown wire – connect to 12 volt positive supply from the ignition switch
Blue wire – connect to ground.
Black wire – speed signal, connect to white/black wire on the speedo harness Continued >>
