IMPORTANT INFORMATION
- DISCONNECT THE BATTERY CABLE
PRIOR TO INSTALLATION
- MODIFICATIONS TO FUEL TANKS
SHOULD ONLY BE DONE WITH THE
TANK REMOVED FROM THE
VEHICLE, EMPTIED, CLEANED AND
DRIED
- FAMILIARISE YOURSELF WITH THE
ATTACHED DIAGRAM SO THAT YOU
BECOME AWARE OF THE NAMES
GIVEN TO THE KEY COMPONENTS
IN THIS ASSEMBLY
- PLEASE READ THROUGH THESE
INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE STARTING
THE TASK
STEPS
- Measure the depth of the fuel
tank
- Select the pivot and float
arm length dimensions,
relevant to the depth of your
tank
- Check attached diagram to
determine how these
dimensions should be used.
- Slide the retaining clips and
the black float onto the
float arm wire and adjust to
the desired length. The clips
can be moved along the wire
by squeezing the open ends
together.
THE FLOAT ARM WIRE CAN CAUSE
INJURY PLEASE HANDLE WITH CARE, USE
PROTECTIVE GLOVES
- When the float has been
correctly positioned on the
wire trim off the excess
wire.
IF A WIRE CUTTER IS USED HOLD
THE END OF THE WIRE TO PREVENT THE
CUT PIECE FROM FLYING OFF AND CAUSING
INJURY
- Slide the resistor box onto
the metal rod and adjust to
the correct pivot height as
per table
- Mark the rod just below the
bottom resistor box bracket
- Remove the resistor box and
cut off the surplus rod
- Attach the square nuts and
bolts to the resistor box
brackets, but do not tighten
yet
- Holding the resistor box
rotate the mounting flange so
that the float arm
orientation is correct,
winding the electrical wire
tightly around the rod so
that it does not interfere
with the operation of the
float arm
- Slide the resistor box onto
the rod to the correct height
and orientation, then fully
tighten the screws until the
surfaces of the mounting
brackets meet and the box is
secured to the rod.
- At this point it is a good
idea to check that the sender
and the fuel gauge work in
harmony. Please connect the
sender to the gauge and check
that the gauge reads full
when the float arm is in the
uppermost position, and the
gauge shows empty when the
when the float arm is at it's
lowest.
- If all is well, Slide the
gasket over the float, along
the arm and over the resistor
box to the underside of the
flange
- Correctly orient the gasket
by placing the cut out in the
gasket diametrically opposite
the index hole in the flange
(the index hole is the one
with the key way cut into it) prior to inserting the
unit into the tank
AT THIS POINT THE TANK SHOULD
BE CHECKED TO ENSURE THAT IT IS FREE
FROM ANY DEBRIS, DIRT, LOOSE SCREWS
ETC
- Install the unit, float first
into the tank and align the
screw holes with those on the
sender flange and the gasket
- Insert the mounting screws
and tighten securely but DO
NOT OVER TIGHTEN
