Caerbont Automotive Instruments Ltd (CAI) is an independent company in South Wales engaged in the design and manufacture of discrete car instruments, instrument clusters, senders, electronic control and interface modules and wiring harnesses for the specialist automotive and industrial markets.
CAI has its roots in the Smiths Motor Accessories business, a pioneer in the development of the UK Automotive Industry. In 1984 ownership moved to the Lucas Group and then transferred to the German concern VDO before becoming an independent company following a management buyout in 1993.
In 2006 CAI acquired the Icknield-Stewart Warner instrumentation business from Teleflex Morse.
